Brief

The NBN is a collaborative project which involves many of the UK’s wildlife conservation organisations, the government and country agencies, environmental agencies, local records centres and also many voluntary groups.

Distinction were commissioned to re-design the existing website for the NBN, bringing together the NBN website itself, the NBN Gateway and the NBN Forums.

The three websites outlined above all had different designs and were run almost independently of each other
The design of all of them was dated and in need of a re-vamp
Existing content management did not provide enough control over layout or design, and was also difficult to use
Customer relations were difficult given the communications tools
Visitor experiences were thought to be low

Solution

Following much consultation, and a detailed tender process, Distinction put together a bespoke content management system using Kentico CMS offering:

New graphical design for all three sites
Transparent navigation between sites via a consistent menu structure
A content management system (CMS) with integrated communication and marketing tools and image library

Results

You can view the new NBN site at http://www.nbn.org.uk/. Feedback at the launch of the site was extremely positive, with 88% stating that the new site was very good or excellent. The remaining 12% thought the site was good - so we're obviously delighted with those findings!
