Ongoing design, development and support for an industry-leading job board.

Introduction

oZZle first approached Distinction back in November 2004, with the idea of setting up a ‘job board’ specifically for the design, print and packaging industry. Up against a market dominated by well-known names such as Monster and TotalJobs, they needed a strong brand that conveyed their distinctive offering and that would stand the test of time.

Distinction developed the oZZle brand and persona to convey friendliness and accessibility to a sector that is not always at the forefront of adopting new technologies widely beyond those they use in their day-to-day operations.

In January 2005, the oZZle website was launched, rapidly becoming the market leading jobs site for the print, packaging and design sector. Developed using ASP.NET and SQL Server, the site has a private maintenance section for oZZle staff to run the site on a minute by minute basis.

Solution

Distinction art directed the project from start to finish, developing the oZZle brand and persona from scratch. It has been important for oZZle to maintain their competitive edge against much larger competitors and to address the specific needs of their market niche. The introduction and improvement of innovative services has been a key part of their strategy with sophisticated, yet easy to use, options available to different levels of site membership.

For recruiters, the CV Watchdog feature allows Platinum members to filter the database on industry skills and search terms, with a notification triggered on key skills and geographical area each time a relevant CV is uploaded.

The Headhunt service has been refined since it was introduced at the site’s launch and now can be set to distances from 1 to 100 miles from a location instead of the much wider territories that were previously used.

For job seekers, Xclude is a very popular service which allows them to block selected employers from seeing their details so maintaining the discretion of their job search.

The most recent job seeker innovation is Predictive Job Matching, introduced in November 2010. This uses predictive search to present relevant vacancies to a job seeker at the point at which they register with the site, saving them the need to search. The benefit to the recruiter is that their vacancy is immediately presented to active job seekers who match their needs.

oZZle have now taken their keyword management in-house, after initial support from us and we work with them on a retained basis, providing updates and support, and managing their server. Recently we have helped them move towards the effective use of social media tools, integrating the web site with twitter so that new jobs posted are automatically tweeted, broadening their web presence with minimal additional effort for them.

"We went to Distinction with a concept; they listened, understood, considered, and in conjunction with ourselves created what is now the Design, Print and Packaging Industries leading Job Board.

Since day one we felt they understood and cared, and their continuing personal, proactive and flexible approach means we still have no doubt that they were the right choice. Whenever we need something from them, they always come up with ideas that are better than what we asked for.

We cannot recommend Distinction highly enough."
