I read a great post over on Seth Godin's blog today - "Death Spiral".
It describes the impact of reducing marketing spend on your business during a recession, and if we're not careful the 'death spiral' will affect some great businesses:
"The newspaper has fewer advertisers, so they can't invest as much in running stories, so people stop reading it, which means advertisers have less reason to advertise which leaves less money for stories..."
It reminded me of so many conversations I've been having recently - so many companies are cutting back or 'streamlining', and understandably so, but you might be cutting off your own head.
At the moment you still have some clients, cash and momentum - so why not engage them with something new and innovative. Isn't that better than dying a slow death?
